How to reach Évora
The international airport nearest to Évora is the Aeroporto de Lisboa. Évora is about 120 km east from Lisboa, being connected by a highway.

Take a transport (taxi)or Bus-shutle from airport to bus-station "Sete Rios". You can buy tickets there.

In Évora, take a taxi at the bus station.
LISBOA ÉVORA (131 Kms) by CAR
§ You may rent a car at the airport (e.g. AVIS and HERTZ).
§ Take the highway A1, direction North [Norte].
§ Choose [Ponte Vasco da Gama, A12] at the exit [Vila Franca / Ponte Vasco da Gama, A12], entering the Vasco da Gama bridge.
§ After crossing the bridge, continue through highway A12 for aprox. 17 km till exit [Évora], entering highway A2.
§ Continue through highway A2 [IP1] for aprox. 19 km till exit n.7.
§ At exit n.7 choose [Espanha/Évora,A6], entering highway A6.
§ Continue through highway A6 [E90] for aprox. 60 km till exit [Évora].
§ Follow the signs to Évora on a high road for another 10 km until you reach the city.
§ Arrive Évora. Address: Auditorium of the University of Evora (situated close to the main building), Largo dos Colegiais, Evora

International Conference on Languages and Linguistics
The University of Évora, mainland Portugal, is organizing the International Conference on Language and Linguistics to be held on October 10-12, 2011.
The conference is dedicated to promoting the sharing of research and experiences in the field of linguistics and education, and translation.
Call for papers include topics such as Portuguese as a Foreign Language; Portuguese Linguistics; and General Linguistics. Abstracts should be between 200-300 words in doc or .docx format. The contact person is Maria Marçalo at CILL2011EVORA@gmail.com. Deadline for submission is September 11, 2011. Notification of acceptance is September 17, 2011
The University of Évora, specially oriented toward the education of human resources, is the second oldest Portuguese university founded in 1559, after the University of Coimbra established in 1290. Closed in the 18th century, the university reopened in 1979.
The University is recognized internationally, being regularly evaluated by the European University Association (EUA). It has also been accepted as a member of the Magna Charta Universitatum. The University of Évora has around 5,760 students enrolled in graduate courses, 1,588 in Master’s courses and 277 in PhD courses. It has a teaching staff of 577, and an administrative staff of 406.
Évora, a city with a population of nearly 41,159, is located in the Southern province of Alentejo at about 130 km from Lisbon. Évora, which holds remains of Roman architecture, is listed as a UNESCO’s World Heritage city.
Presentations in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese are welcome.
Studies and research about all languages are welcome.
